Overview

Imagine leaving the bustling harbor town of Labuan Bajo behind and venturing into the heart of Flores Island, where winding mountain roads lead to hidden villages, breathtaking landscapes, and traditions that have remained unchanged for centuries.

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive to Denge Village, the gateway to one of Indonesia’s most remarkable cultural treasures: Waerebo Village. Surrounded by lush forests and mist-covered mountains, a rewarding trek takes you to this remote traditional village, where the iconic cone-shaped houses stand proudly among the clouds. As the sun sets behind the mountains, you’ll spend the night in a traditional communal house, sharing stories and experiencing the genuine hospitality of the local Manggarai community.

The next morning, wake up to the peaceful atmosphere of village life before interacting with local families and learning about their unique traditions. After descending back to Denge, the journey continues through the fertile highlands of Flores to the famous Spider Web Rice Fields of Cancar. From above, the perfectly arranged rice fields create a fascinating pattern unlike anywhere else in the world. The day concludes in Ruteng, a charming mountain town known for its cool climate and beautiful surroundings.

As you continue eastward, the landscapes become even more dramatic. A stop at the tranquil Rana Mese Lake offers a moment of serenity amid dense tropical forests, while a visit to Aimere Village reveals the traditional process of producing arak, a local palm spirit that has been part of Flores culture for generations. By afternoon, you’ll arrive in Bajawa, home to the Ngada people and one of the cultural centers of Flores.

The following day is a journey through some of Flores’ most iconic cultural and natural attractions. Explore the ancient Bena Traditional Village, where megalithic stones and ancestral houses tell stories of the island’s rich heritage. Take in panoramic views from Manu Lalu Viewpoint before continuing to the colorful Blue Stone Beach, famous for its naturally blue and green pebbles. Along the route, admire the majestic Ebulobo Volcano, visit the traditional village of Wologai, and experience local life at the bustling Ndua Ria Market before reaching the peaceful mountain village of Moni.

On your final day, an early morning departure leads to one of Indonesia’s most extraordinary natural wonders—Kelimutu Lake. As the sun rises over the volcanic peaks, the three crater lakes reveal their mystical colors, creating a magical spectacle that has captivated travelers from around the world. It is the perfect ending to an unforgettable journey across Flores.

From the remote mountain village of Waerebo to the legendary Kelimutu Three-Colored Lakes, this 5-day adventure showcases the very best of Flores Island.
